I still love and use Light Air Filters. I have had 4 of them for about 15+ years and they are still doing as well as when I bought them. But this summer I also bought Austin Air for my bedroom in addition to them. Here is why: I am now more susceptible to EBV reactivation, courtesy of my 5 mold exposures 4 houses in a row, plus the nasty reality of our present time is that wild fires are getting worse and are here to stay, now also polluting the East Coast. We have bad air from wild fires every single summer now in PNW where I live. And finally, as I repeat it ad nauseam everywhere, among many chemicals produced in wild smoke, dioxin, one of the most dangerous chemicals according to some scientists, reactivates EBV, pure and simple. We have studies. Smoke is bad for you. Wild smoke is very bad for anyone. Wild smoke is particularly bad for a person with chronic EBV.
We may be at a point where living without an air filter in your household is as detrimental as living without water filtration system and drinking tap water.
We do need predictable, research-verified, heavy-duty air filtration systems that can take on smoke particles, and Austin Air does, almost at a 100% level.
The problem remains that even if you wear a special mask outside, you still have to go back home. You have to sleep in your home and you cannot seal yourself off. In fact, you do need to open windows for fresh air. If you always sleep with your window closed, and especially of there are two people sleeping in that room, you may build up a dangerous level of C02 you exhale during the night, and that can be detrimental and even dangerous. So at least where you spend 8 hours in bed you need something to help clean the air from outside.
Some of the best qualities of this filter I appreciate are that there is no plastics or toxic paint, so no off gassing, and the filter is replaced only once every 5 years. And of course it is also very effective in clearing bacteria, viruses and mold. Note: While it does filter out mold, please always remember that NO air filter can clean the mold particles completely if you have ongoing water damage. Your priority is still to remove that water damage of course.
I was impressed with the quality of this filter as well as its a solid reputation, so we partnered with the company as an affiliate, which gives us an opportunity to extend savings on their products to our community. You will see details below how to secure that saving.
Here are some of the more official credits that the company provided:
- Austin Air is the only air purifier proven to remove pollutants in independent clinical trials. Carried out by leading university hospitals. They had no involvement in the trials. No influence. No bias.
- In government tests they outperformed over 100 other air purifiers. This led to work with FEMA and the American Red Cross during some of America’s most challenging times, including 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, and the 2015 SoCal gas leak in California.
- More recently they supplied an unprecedented number of schools, hospitals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year they have also protected thousands of households on the west coast, as they experience one of the worst wildfire seasons on record.
- They are the only air purifier with a 5-year filter life. No other air purifier comes close to this. No expensive filter changes, just plug in your Austin and let it run.
- They are the only air purifier using 60 sq. ft. of True Medical Grade HEPA. There are lots of air purifiers using Medical Grade HEPA. But it’s only a fraction of the HEPA they use. This ensures a long filter life and the effective removal of viruses, bacteria and allergens.
- They are the only air purifier to use 780 cubic inches of Activated Carbon. Activated Carbon can also be found in lots of other air purifiers. But nothing close to 780 cubic inches. This guarantees your home will be free from chemicals and VOC’s.
- They are the only air purifier constructed using solid steel and a non-toxic powder coated paint. No plastic, no polystyrene, no off gassing.
We are super excited to share with you that Austin Air came up with 2 compact models that are much smaller and practical with the same benefits. We have just added the 2 new options of the new models to our shop (links below). Like the original Austin Air, filter is replaced only every 5 years (links below). I would definitely invest into the one with VOC wrap as it handles mold, gas (from your stove, which actually leaks toxins) and smoke particles if you live in the area of wild fires.
See details about each of the new models below. And remember that you will benefit from our EBVHEROES10 10% savings coupon on this product.
